RAJA AMPAT NAMED A MUST-VISIT DESTINATIONS FOR TOURISTS IN 2025

THE New York Times has named Raja Ampat, West Papua as one of the must-visit destinations for tourists in 2025.

As reported by the New York Times, Friday (01/10), 2025, the crowning was officially written in a list entitled “52 Places to Go in 2025”.

In the given review it was stated that Raja Ampat is a district surrounded by the most diverse marine ecosystem in the world, namely the Coral Triangle.

The area, consisting of a series of 1,500 islands, cays and shoals in Indonesia, can offer tourists a breathtaking expanse of nature both in and out of the water.

“Swim among yellow-spotted boxfish and dive among purple gorgonian sea fans. On land, explore secluded beaches surrounded by coconut trees or walk into the forest to see the striking and rare Wilson’s Bird of Paradise,” said writer Ratha Tep.

In addition to its extraordinary beauty, Raja Ampat is also a rare conservation success. Amid declining stingray and shark populations worldwide, the reef’s manta ray population is growing.

In fact, the travel guide points out that access to Raja Ampat has become much easier.

As a tip, travelers can avoid the crowds with a direct flight from Bali to Sorong, followed by a boat ride (or two) to a simple overwater bungalow through the Raja Ampat Homestay Association, which is run by local Papuans.

Even more tour operator Abercrombie & Kent even launched its first trip to Raja Ampat in March.

In addition to Raja Ampat, other destinations on the “52 Places to Go in 2025” list include Jane Austen in England, the Galápagos Islands in Ecuador, the Museum of New York City in the United States, and the Lofoten Islands in Norway. [antaranews/photo special]
