PEMUTERAN VILLAGE, BALI WON THE BEST TOURISM VILLAGE 2025 AWARD

PEMUTERAN Tourism Village in Buleleng, Bali, Indonesia won the prestigious title of “Best Tourism Village 2025” from the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism).

“I am very proud and optimistic. This award will be an inspiration for other tourist villages throughout Indonesia to continue to optimize natural potential, cultural heritage and community empowerment towards more inclusive and sustainable tourism,” said Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana when confirmed in Jakarta, Friday (10/17), 2025.

This award was presented simultaneously to a number of the world’s best tourist villages at the annual Best Tourism Villages by UN Tourism-2025 Ceremony & Third Annual Network Meeting which was held in Huzhou, China.

Apart from Pemuteran, the Osing Kemiren Tourism Village from Banyuwangi, East Java, was also selected to be included in the Upgrade Program of the Best Tourism Villages by UN Tourism 2025. These two villages successfully passed a very strict selection process, competing with 270 tourist village candidates from 65 countries.

According to Deputy for Tourism Destination and Infrastructure Development Tourism Ministry, Hariyanto, received the award along with representatives from the two tourist villages, namely I Gusti Agung Ngurah Kertiyasa and I Ketut Sutrawan Selamet from Pemuteran Tourism Village, as well as Muhamad Nanda Al Hakim Akbar from Osing Kemiren Tourism Village.

Hariyanto explained that Best Tourism Villages (BTV) is a UN Tourism initiative to promote tourism as a driver of economic development and environmental sustainability in rural areas.

“The Ministry of Tourism will continue to amplify the values ​​encouraged by UN Tourism so that tourist villages in Indonesia can utilize tourism as a vehicle for positive, inclusive and sustainable transformation,” he said.

He said the Ministry of Tourism wants to create villages that promote and preserve nature and culture, respecting gastronomy, handicrafts and people. A village that continues to innovate and has an entrepreneurial spirit, empowers its community, and strives for the welfare of local residents and tourists.

Pemuteran Village is known as a coastal village in Buleleng Regency, Bali, which attracts tourists with its natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and high commitment to the principles of sustainable tourism. This village has carried out various initiatives to preserve marine ecosystems, develop ecotourism, and maintain local Balinese cultural wisdom.

Through community-based programs and collaboration with local governments and non-governmental organizations, Pemuteran seeks to create a harmonious balance between tourism development and environmental conservation, making it a unique and attractive destination for tourists.

Pemuteran Tourism Village has also previously won a regional level award through the ASEAN Tourism Standard in the Community-Based Tourism (CBT) 2023–2025 category.

Meanwhile, Osing Kemiren Tourism Village is a village assisted by PT Astra International Tbk which has also received the ASEAN Homestay Standard Award 2025–2027.

The success of Pemuteran Village in the BTV 2025 event continues the series of achievements of Indonesian tourist villages that have previously made a name for themselves at the world level, such as Nglanggeran Tourism Village (2021), Penglipuran (2023), Jatiluwih (2024), and Wukirsari (2024), as well as other villages that were successfully included in the Upgrade Program.
