TIPS FOR SAFE AND ENJOYABLE TRAVEL DURING THE RAINY SEASON IN INDONESIA

THE INDONESIAN Ministry of Tourism is sharing tips for tourists and the public on how to enjoy safe, comfortable, and enjoyable travel, even though the rainy season has now begun.

The tips provided refer to the advice issued through the Minister of Tourism’s Circular Letter concerning the Implementation of Safe, Comfortable, and Enjoyable Tourism Activities, which emphasizes the importance of collaboration between local governments, business operators, destination managers, and tourists in creating responsible and safe tourism activities.

“The Ministry of Tourism urges the public planning travel during the rainy season, which is coming soon, around Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026, to always pay attention to aspects of security, safety, and comfort while traveling,” the Ministry of Tourism stated in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Those planning to travel is expected to choose safe destinations and activities, especially avoiding high-risk activities during extreme weather such as heavy rain, strong winds, or potential landslides.

Use appropriate modes of transportation that meet safety standards from authorized agencies to prevent travel accidents.

The Ministry also recommends complying with regulations and information at tourist sites, including operating hours, visitor capacity, and safety and evacuation instructions. It’s best to seek this information before visiting to streamline your visit and ensure a more comfortable experience.

Remember to maintain environmental cleanliness and sustainability, such as by avoiding littering and supporting the implementation of sustainable tourism at your destination.

The public can also take advantage of travel insurance or travel protection, especially at high-risk destinations, as advised in the circular.

The Ministry of Tourism also encourages tourists and tourism destination managers to implement tourism destination risk management, particularly at high-risk destinations, by referring to the Technical Guidelines for Implementing Risk Management in Tourism Destinations.

Managers are also asked to adhere to modules related to CHSE (Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability), disaster management, and visitor management as a guideline for maintaining the safety, comfort, and sustainability of the destination.

Furthermore, pay attention to weather and disaster potential information from the BMKG (Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency) and follow the directions of the local BNPB (National Disaster Management Agency) and BPBD (Regional Disaster Management Agency) before and during your trip.

“Tourists are expected to continue traveling safely, comfortably, and enjoyably during the rainy season, and to actively participate in creating resilient, sustainable, and safe tourism,” the ministry concluded. [antaranews]
