AMERICAN Tourister released a collection of “Stranger Things”-themed luggage and travel accessories as part of its collaboration with the Netflix series, which is currently entering its fifth and final season.
“Stranger Things has had fans across countries for years. In this collaboration we are trying to translate the strong themes and narratives in the series into product designs,” said Senior Marketing Director of American Tourister, High Sierra & Kamiliant Asia Pacific and Middle East, Nikhil Gupte in an official statement on Friday (12/05), 2025.
“This collaboration was carried out by adapting a number of details from the Stranger Things universe, including characters, iconography, and the main themes that appeared in the final season. This approach is said to be an effort to respond to the large fan base of the series in Indonesia,” he said.
According to the Country Head of PT Samsonite Indonesia, Nadya Pertiwi, added that the design development was carried out by highlighting narrative and visual elements that were easily recognized by the audience. According to him, these characteristics are seen as relevant to people’s habits of using travel goods as a medium for self-expression.
One of the components presented at the launch was the Visible & Hidden two-dimensional themed suitcase series, which is available in two sizes. The product features a two-sided design: the front contains an illustration of the character’s silhouette in a night setting, while the back features symbols and patterns that refer to the alternative world of the “Upside Down”.
The company also revealed that the interior of the suitcase is covered in a special motif that takes inspiration from creatures and other visual elements that appear in the series.
In addition to the suitcase, the released range includes a WSQK “The Squawk” themed backpack, as well as a number of accessories designed with the Hellfire Club, a fictional group that is part of the Stranger Things storyline. The product consists of an elastic suitcase protector, a storage compression bag, and a suitcase label.
The release of this collection coincides with the broadcast of the fifth season of Stranger Things which is divided into three volumes on Netflix: four episodes on November 26, three episodes on Christmas Day, and one final episode on New Year’s Eve 2025. [antaranews]
