AT THE end of July, ARTOTEL Gelora Senayan presents its first art exhibition of 2026. Themed “Mirage,” the exhibition collaborates with the J+ Art Awards 2026, initiated by the Connected Art Platform, and runs until the end of October 2026.
MIRAGE presents diverse artistic responses to how humans interpret reality amidst ongoing social, cultural, and technological change. Through this theme, artists present diverse perspectives on issues relevant to contemporary life.
The exhibition features 10 works from nine selected artists. Adril Wak Yong’s “Patah Kemudi” explores the search for Malay cultural identity amidst an identity crisis, while Agung Bule’s “KUNING #82” explores the intuitive process of painting as a space for uncertainty and inner experience.
In “Sound of Nature (Sea Series),” Camelia Mitasari Hasibuan interprets the sea as a genealogical space that holds the sounds of life and sustainability, while Minji Sani, through “The Pseudo-Stage: A Shelter of Memory,” critiques the fragility of domestic space amidst modernization and socio-political pressures.
Mivetboi, through “Monolog Ruang Tengah” and “Kembali Senja,” reflects on an emotional journey and the process of rediscovering oneself through contemplation. Mochamad Rizky Aditya, through “Ecology Without Nature,” invites the audience to reconsider how humans understand their relationship with nature.
Meanwhile, Patricia Geraldine Thebez’s “The Weight of What Remains” reconstructs personal memories while highlighting issues of violence and women’s experiences. Raka Hadi Permadi’s “Alok-Aruh” reflects the fading culture of greeting each other in society, and Yung Finando’s “Urgent” presents a surreal landscape depicting human anxiety amidst the rapid flow of information and the longing for a quieter space.
According to Christo Gultom, Director of Sales & Marketing at ARTOTEL Gelora Senayan Jakarta, during in a press conference on Friday, (07/24), 2026, said through the MIRAGE exhibition, we are honored to be part of the J+ Art Awards 2026 journey and to introduce the works of the selected artists to the public.
“We hope this exhibition can become a space that encourages appreciation, dialogue, and closer engagement with contemporary art,” he said.
Meanwhile, Windi Salomo, ARTOTEL Group’s Art Consultant, also said this exhibition showcases a variety of artworks within the concept of contemporary painting. We are thrilled to present very process; it is interpreted as a form of sensation or figurative representation of an object.
“Through these artists’ works, they do not position themselves as purely contemporary, but rather express themselves through compositions of color, line, shape, and texture, presented as themselves (non-representational/non-objective) in relation to events drawn from a number of moments expressed through visible forms,” she concluded.
