PT MRT Jakarta is targeting foreign investors to play a role in financing several Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) projects slated for development at various locations across Jakarta.
“We are targeting investors not merely for financial support, but rather for the transfer of knowledge—expertise developed in their home countries that can be applied here in Jakarta,” said Muchamad Iqbal Bimo Arifianto, Division Head of Property Management at PT MRT, in Jakarta on Friday (9/25), 2026.
According to Iqbal, the offer does not focus solely on the amount of capital investors might provide. Instead, the emphasis is on the specific assets being presented to foreign companies—ranging from the Blok M and Dukuh Atas TODs to the Lebak Bulus Park and Ride facility, among others.
“There are several locations within these areas that will be offered for joint development with foreign investors. A single asset could potentially be developed in collaboration with multiple investors,” he noted.
Iqbal explained that the establishment of these transit-oriented areas aims to revitalize the districts, turning them into vibrant hubs for meeting, socializing, and community life, complete with diverse food and beverage options to cater to urban needs.
These areas will also stimulate the economy by attracting visitors. He cited the example of Blok M, which evolved from a simple bus terminal or shopping mall into a transit hub frequented by people from all walks of life.
“Developing TOD areas requires substantial funding, which is why we are actively seeking to attract foreign investors,” he said.
PT MRT, together with several Jakarta-owned enterprises (BUMD), is currently hosting a TOD Investment Forum in Singapore, hoping to create opportunities for foreign investors to participate in upcoming development projects.
“So far, no investment deals have been finalized, but we are continuing our efforts to attract investors to participate in these developments,” Iqbal stated. Currently, PT MRT is working to enhance its appeal to attract foreign investors to contribute capital toward the development of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) areas.
“Multiple foreign investor companies can work on a single asset, and naturally, the hope is for a subsequent transfer of knowledge,” he affirmed.
PT MRT is currently undertaking several projects requiring substantial budgets, starting with the construction of the Dukuh Atas Pedestrian Deck, estimated to cost IDR300 billion. This is followed by the Bundaran HI Concourse Extension project, being carried out by PT Integrasi Transit Jakarta at a cost of IDR148.2 billion.
Furthermore, other TOD projects currently underway include the Kali Besar Heritage project, XGL Mixed-Use, the Ultimate Development of Blok M, the Lebak Bulus Park and Ride, and Thamrin Asset Development. [antaranews]
