JAPAN AND CHINA STEAL THE ATTENTION AT THE 44th TTC TRAVEL MART INTERNATIONAL

TRAVEL agencies from Japan and China, which dominate as newcomers, appear to be actively attracting buyers at the 44th TTC Travel Mart International, which took place at the Redtop Hotel, Pecenongan, Jakarta, on Monday (10/05), 2026.

According to the Project Manager of TTC Travel Mart International, Kidung Pascalis, said this event is held twice a year in two different cities. This year it will be held in Jakarta, on Monday, (10/05) and in Makassar, on Wednesday (10/07), 2026.

In terms of participants, continued Kidung, compared to 2025, it’s actually not that different. There is indeed a slight decrease, but not too significant. This year the total sellers reached 129, with 103 tables. Meanwhile the number of buyers reached 120 participants.

Apart from that, Kidung also admitted that there were fewer sellers from Indonesia compared to last year’s TTC Travel Mart International event. The decrease in the number of sellers is due to budget efficiency policies and limiting travel activities. “Several cities that subscribe to participate, this year they are absent,” said Kidung.

Traditional market players from Asia have also shifted slightly, with Japan travel agencies dominating, followed by Chinese travel agencies. The Japanese travel agents participating this time were different from previous years, and presented various new tour packages to Sakura Country.

But when he asked about why China still dominating the event, he directly said “a number of provinces from China came directly to work on the Indonesian market, the reason is because China is a large country, many provinces, one of which came from Harbin, China.”

Kidung also explained that Harbin is so cold? In winter, cold air from Siberia and the Mongolian Plateau moves eastward and southward, and flows straight over Harbin, making Harbin an “Icy Kingdom”.

Meanwhile, from the seller’s side, representatives of Asia, Japan and China seemed to dominate, followed by Vietnam and Uzbekistan. European sellers are still stable and the majority are from traditional markets such as Turkiye, Egypt, Morocco and others.

“From the European market, apart from old sellers, there are also many new entrants from medium and small-scale travel agencies. If during the last event there were 4 new sellers, this month it increased to 8 sellers,” he affirmed.

It should be noted, this time TTC Travel Mart International also changed its implementation from the usual September to October according to the ITB Asia tourist exchange calendar in Singapore.

Changing the implementation schedule to October this year has also proven effective. “Several ITB Asia participants which also attended the TTC Travel Mart after the exhibition in Singapore. This strategy has proven successful and increases international participation,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
