MINISTRY: INDONESIA WAS SUPERIOR IN THE 5 PILLARS OF 2026 TTDI ASSESSMENT

THE MINISTRY of Tourism stated that the world recognizes Indonesia’s excellence through the five pillars of the Travel and Tourism Development Indonesia (TTDI) assessment issued by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in 2026.

“This can be seen based on Indonesian Travel and Tourism Development (TTDI) data released by the World Economic Forum (WEF) this year,” said Tourism Ministry spokesperson Nia Niscaya in Jakarta, Friday (11/06), 2026.

Nia explained that this superiority can be seen from the Priority of Tourism and Technology (Prioritization of T&T) pillar which is ranked 1st, Price Competitiveness at 5th place, Natural Resources at 9th position, Cultural Resources at 15th place and Socioeconomic Impact at 15th place.

According to Nia, even though Indonesia has similarities with a number of countries in the ASEAN region and can foster a sense of closeness, especially through nature and culture, tourism in Indonesia will be different from other countries.

“The essence of tourism is uniqueness, yes, but unique doesn’t mean it’s not similar. It could be similar, but it definitely has its own uniqueness,” he said.

Apart from nature and culture, Nia also stated that what differentiates Indonesia from other countries is hospitality. For example, when serving coffee to tourists, usually workers in the tourism sector will give it to them while greeting them with a smile.

This is one of the behaviors that has become a culture in interacting with foreigners.

Previously, Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana said Indonesia recorded a score of 4.56 in the 2026 Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTDI), with second place in Southeast Asia and sixth in the Asia Pacific region.

“The 2026 TTDI ranking also increased with a score of 4.56, placing Indonesia in second place in Southeast Asia and sixth in Asia Pacific,” said Widiyanti.

These various achievements need to be momentum for the government and industry players to continue to improve service quality, expand connectivity, and ensure tourism development runs sustainably and inclusively.

Therefore, he invited all business actors and associations to prepare destinations, services and organize tourism activities to welcome the year-end and early year holiday periods.

This readiness includes improving service quality, safety and comfort for tourists, destination management, as well as the involvement of the community and local business actors in the tourism economic chain.

Meanwhile, according to Passenger Exit Survey (PES) data released by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in 2024, foreign tourist travel activities are dominated by arts and culinary tourism, marine tourism, cultural and religious tourism. [antaranews]
