DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY FOR TOURISM RECOVERY SOLUTIONS IN INDONESIA

MINISTER of Tourism and Creative Economy, Wishnutama Kusbandio stated that digital data and analysis tools can help restore tourism in Indonesia. Google launches “Travel Insights with Google” which provides data and analysis globally for the tourism and travel industry. The site was created to understand consumer demand and plan with existing tools.

“In terms of tourism recovery, I believe digital technology can be part of the solution. The Destination Insights tool developed by Google is one of them,” said the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Wishnutama Kusbandio, in a joint press release with Google Indonesia.

This website has three tools for providing data and analysis, namely Destination Insights, Hotel Insights and Travel Analytic Center. The Destination Insights tool provides a clear overview of the main sources of demand for a destination, including the domestic destinations that attract the most visitors.

“Tourism and travel players can map the possibility of returning certain routes and choices of the most strategic places to communicate with potential potential visitors. This tool is very useful because it helps all travel industry players understand real-time demand trends and the development of the travel industry situation amid the pandemic,” Wishnutama said.

He added that hotel Insights is designed to help the hospitality industry, especially small and independent hoteliers, understand where demand for rooms and properties is coming from, and how to target their marketing.

A final tool, the Travel Analytics Center, is available to Google’s commercial partners in the travel sector. Organizations can combine data from their Google accounts with Google’s broader query data and analysis. In this way, users can get a clear picture of how operations are managed and the opportunity to reach potential visitors.

Meanwhile, Managing Director of Google Indonesia, Randy Jusf stated that the Travel Insights with Google site will be a centralized destination for other Google resources, apart from being a data provider and analysis tool.

“The global travel industry is severely affected by COVID-19. However, we see some hope in the increase in domestic flights in many countries as well as government efforts to find ways to open international travel safely,”  Randy concluded. [antaranews/photo special]
