INDONESIAN government’s plan to close flights to four other countries after China along with the Corona virus outbreak (Covid-19), especially South Korea and Japan will be more dilemmatic compared to Iran and Italy.
According to aviation consultant from CommunicAvia Gerry Soejatman said the closure of routes to Japan and Korea will have an impact on national airlines that rely on the two countries as their main international markets.
“For Iran and Italy, it is indeed needed and will not affect the industry because there are no direct flights. However, Japan and South Korea are quite dilemmatic,” he explained.
South Korea, according to Gerry is indeed quite severe cases of corona transmission, while transmission in Japan is not as severe as the three countries, although there is a possibility that the outbreak will get worse. The risk of transmission through people who are sick and have stopped in Korea and Japan is quite alarming.
He said Korea has the highest risk because a corona outbreak also affects members of the government. On the other hand, Italy is also spreading rapidly in the past week and the increase in cases in Europe is caused by transmission in the region.
Earlier, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said the government was reviewing flight restrictions or access from four countries deemed infected by the corona virus. The plan was carried out to prevent the spread of similar outbreaks in Indonesia.
“Four countries, but still possible. South Korea, Japan, Italy and Iran,” he concluded. [bisnis.com/photo special]
