TOURISM MINISTRY DELAYS PROMOTION PLANS IN COVID-19 AFFECTED COUNTRIES

MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy decided to postpone the provision of incentives and promotions to several countries affected by the Covid-19 outbreak until the situation subsided and the atmosphere returned conducive

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Wishnutama Kusubandio in his statement in Jakarta conveyed, the decision was a form of reconsideration of the planned promotion and incentives for the tourism sector.

“We have decided to postpone promotions and incentives to bring in foreign tourists in countries that are currently affected by the corona virus such as South Korea, Japan, Iran, Italy, etc., which have been done to China before,” Wishnutama said.

This was done, said Menparekraf to protect the people of Indonesia and the government also continued to make maximum efforts to prevent the point of transmission from spreading into a domestic epidemic.

“This is not only to maintain the safety and health of all Indonesian people, but also the conducivity of Indonesia’s tourism ecosystem as a whole,” he said.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) ensured the government had identified all people who had contact with the two patients who had tested positive for the corona virus. And now surveillance has been carried out in relation to the two patients.

“So we do not need to be too afraid of this problem but still must be careful and vigilant in every move,” said the President.
