TOURISM Ministry and Creative Economy opens a channel complaints for tourism and creative economy industry whose business is affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. For this reason, tourism associations and industry of the creative economy are asked to continue to make efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to deal with the impact of COVID-19 during this emergency response.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency in his statement in Jakarta, asking that associations/industries to coordinate regularly with the department in charge of tourism and the creative economy and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency.
“This includes reporting potential losses and health and financial impacts on each workforce,” Wishnutama said.
The Minister of Tourism’s statement was related to the issuance of Circular Letter Number 3 of 2020 concerning the follow-up call to prevent the spread of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Previously the Ministry of Tourism had also activated the Integrated Crisis Center as a communication and education channel for the community to reduce the impact of COVID-19 on the tourism sector and the creative economy.
The Integrated Crisis Center will collect information on the tourism industry and creative economy actors affected by COVID-19 throughout the region and open an online forum to solicit input from actors and stakeholders in the tourism sector as a material for consideration in formulating policies and further steps.
In the circular, the Minister of Tourism also specifically asked restaurant managers to follow the Ministry of Health’s health protocol regarding communication handling COVID-19. Among restaurant managers and staff to implement physical distancing in accordance with WHO and UNWTO guidelines in public spaces.
“Also applying personal hygiene (washing hands with soap and water) especially after using the toilet, doing cleaning work and before and after eating, and other health protocol items,” Wishnutama said.
He also reminded restaurant and restaurant entrepreneurs to reduce dine in services and to take delivery/delivery services to reduce the movement/gathering of the community.
“Creative economic actors who continue to carry out production must implement health protocols and are advised to sell goods through online media,” Wishnutama noted.
Tourism Minister calls on the association/industry to consult and report on all developments in the implementation of anticipating and handling the effects of COVID-19 transmission in their respective organizations/members under their respective associations.

Wishnutama said that the priority of Tourism Ministry is to protect the health and safety of the community and maintain the economic resilience of the tourism sector and the national creative economy, especially to make maximum efforts to avoid termination of employee employment.
Recovery of the tourism and creative economy sectors is a priority after the pandemic is declared over by the central government. The Ministry of Tourism is currently coordinating with ministries and institutions related to various economic stimulus proposals so as to ease the burden and costs of tourism businesses and creative economy players so as to reduce the potential for layoffs of employees in the sector.
