THE Indonesian National Airline Association (INACA) claimed to have not been able to predict the performance of the aviation industry in the second half of 2020 despite getting fresh air by the government through the revision of the occupancy occupancy rate to 70%.
According to INACA Chairperson Denon Prawiraatmadja said that in general the growth of the aviation market can be seen from the Eid holiday season and new year’s Christmas. However, in the face of abnormality at this time the main indicator actually refers to the level of control of COVID-19.
Denon believes that if the government through its task force gradually manages to reduce the positive case of the spread of COVID-19, then automatically the movement of the community will also gradually improve.
“Whether in the second semester of 2020 we can go back to last year or before we have to see whether in this productive activity the community has awareness in implementing health protocols or not. However, if more infections occur, the community will be difficult and the government will impose more restrictions,” Denon said.
According to him, the re-enactment of restrictions will make the factors of Christmas and New Year celebrations near the end of the year not be felt and will ultimately have an impact on the performance of the aviation industry.
Furthermore, Denon revealed the rules that have been made by the government can help aviation activities but to stretch will still depend on public awareness in implementing health protocols.
In addition, the government has also prepared transition rules but to be able to move back productively also depends on the desire of the people to do so.
So far, said Denon, with the increasing frequency of flights, a number of business activities have gradually improved. Especially for air transportation, the supervision and arrangements for passengers are much more stringent long before the existence of COVID-19.
However, he is concerned about the condition of public transportation on land which is more likely to transmit COVID-19 to other open public places.
“Besides, if this is returned to the community, if it is still productive, please remain productive with the rules set by the government. I see that in the open market there is also no awareness of physical distancing. If the office area is quite aware. If this open space is not yet considered,” he concluded. [bisnis.com/photo special]
