THE Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy initiated a digital acceleration program to revive traditional music.
According to the Acting Deputy for the Digital Economy and Creative Products of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Josua Puji Mulia Simanjuntak during the Bunyi Nusantara (SILABUN) Gathering event entitled “Traditional Music, a Kick to Survive the Battle of the Ages”, Wednesday (5/8/2020) said that in the present, traditional or traditional music is very rarely in demand by the public, especially young people, because it is considered ancient and not modern.
“Traditional music is a national identity that must be developed and preserved. There should be no regeneration. To that end, the Ministry of Tourism has initiated a digital acceleration program to create innovation and revive traditional music so that the distinctive features of an area are not lost,” Josua said.
Josua continued one of the goals of digital acceleration of traditional music is to encourage creative economic actors to transform from offline to online by utilizing technology, while still paying attention to the basics or characteristics of traditional music. This is done to expand the traditional music market.
“We digitize traditional music so that the world knows the quality of Indonesian traditional music that deserves to be reckoned with,” he noted.
In addition, the Ministry of Tourism also pays full attention to the welfare of traditional musicians by providing various assistance in an effort to improve the competence of creative economy players in order to have an entrepreneurial spirit.
“This needs to be done so that the ecographers know the basic knowledge to sell their products, in this case music, so that they can be marketed. Starting from production to distribution,” Josua added.
Meanwhile, an ethnomusicologist, Amin Abdullah, said that the move that musicians must have to survive the onslaught of the times is to do digital transformation and have an entrepreneurial spirit. Traditional music in the perspective of creative economy is considered as an investment that must be maintained.
“Like the Lathi song which gives an extraordinary surprise. Interesting positioning and innovation to provide contemporary creations without leaving the characteristics of traditional music by utilizing digital transformation from production to sales,” Amin affirmed.
Amin explained that traditional music will survive the onslaught of the times if the Indonesian people treat it as the best on the past, you do it on the present, to deal with the future.
The musician, Dewa Budjana, said that it is very important for a musician to involve traditional music in order to beautify the harmony in a musical work. I hope the government continues.
Likewise, Indonesian sasandoist, Ganzer Lana, said that the COVID-19 pandemic that occurs around the world is a challenge in itself for all musicians, especially ethnic musicians, not only in Indonesia but also in the world.
“But the important thing is not to stop working. Indeed, Indonesian musicians have creative DNA and we have a lot of potential young people. Keep working, don’t give up, with our creativity to fight COVID-19,” Ganzer Lana concluded. [traveltext.id]
