MILLENNIAL GENERATION PLAYS A ROLE IN REALIZING SUSTAINABLE TOURISM

THE important role of the millennial generation in enhancing and developing the tourism sector and the creative economy. One of them is helping the main program of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in presenting higher quality sustainable tourism so that it has a big impact on society.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, said the COVID-19 pandemic had a major impact on the tourism sector and the creative economy. This includes presenting new travel trends, from massive tourism to more sustainable tourism. The role of the millennial generation is enormous, they can help socialize government programs where in the future we are targeting higher quality sustainable tourism.

The simplest thing, Sandiaga said, the millennial generation or even generation Z can do it by creating interesting content on social media. Content that can promote sustainable tourism destinations and how a tourist can carry out responsible tourism activities.

“Millennials must set an example in carrying out tourism activities with strict adherence to health protocols and discipline and are environmentally friendly. They also prefer nature-based tourism, and this is in line with the tourism trend in the future from being massive to being more customized, localize, personalize. , and smaller in size,” Sandiaga Uno stated.

The government, he affirmed, was trying hard to revive the tourism sector and the creative economy. The COVID-19 pandemic has a major impact on the tourism sector and the creative economy, where more than 30 million Indonesians depend on this sector for their livelihoods.

One of them is to continue the government’s social assistance program, such as tourism grants for hotels and restaurants, which this year will continue, increase and expand the recipients.

“Alhamdulillah, our programs have received a positive response, vaccinations have been running especially in Bali, Bandung, Yogyakarta and Manado. We are starting to see the rise of tourism and the creative economy, and I want to nurture hope, I want to spread motivation and enthusiasm. The key is how we travel with strict and disciplined health protocols,” Sandiaga concluded. [traveltext.id]
