AS THE first Andaz resort in Asia, Andaz Bali offers a modern and immersive interpretation of the traditional Balinese village and its way of life, Andaz Bali is located in the heart of Sanur, a quaint seaside village known for its old-world charm, picturesque beaches and spectacular sunrises.
The resort was launched with special presence of Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, Jefri Darmadi, CEO PT Jakarta Setiabudi Internasional Tbk, Governor of Bali, I Wayan Koster, Marco Groten, Area Vice President Indonesia-Hyatt Hotels, Head of the Bali Tourism Office Putu Astawa and Rina Mariani, GM of Andaz Bali.
According to David Udell, Hyatt Group President, Asia-Pacific at the opening virtual speech of the launching of Andaz Bali, Friday (9/4) late evening, said as we continue to offer our guests new and immersive ways to rediscover Bali, we are honored to introduce the Andaz brand to Sanur, where Indonesia’s first Hyatt-branded hotel opened more than 40 years ago.
“Andaz Bali is our first Andaz resort in Asia, adding to the brand’s growing urban portfolio in the region which includes Seoul, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Singapore, Tokyo and Xiamen,” he said.
Furthermore Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, said in enhancing and developing the tourism and the creative economy sector. One of those sector is helping the main program of the Tourism Ministry in presenting higher quality sustainable tourism so that it has a big impact on society.
“COVID-19 pandemic had a major impact on the tourism and the creative economy sector. This includes presenting new travel trends, from massive tourism to more sustainable tourism. For example the role of the millennial generation now is enormous, they can help socialize government programs where in the future we are targeting higher quality sustainable tourism,” he explained.
He added today Indonesia is no longer chasing tourist arrivals, but focuses on encouraging sustainable tourism. The concept of sustainable tourism was carried out as a medium and long term tourism management step.
“In the medium and long term, we are the preferred destination in Southeast Asia for foreign tourists with the concept of quality and sustainable tourism. We will no longer be chasing numbers. Wow, yesterday was wrong after chasing numbers. We are only after quality,” Sandiaga Uno stated.
Sandiaga Uno admitted that changing the concept of quality and sustainable tourism will also change the concept of tourism that is busy or on a large scale. We want to shift from mass tourism to sustainable tourism and ecotourism. From sea, sun, sand (beach, sun, sand) to sustainability, serenity and spirituality (sustainability, tranquility and spirituality).
