RI GOV’T CONTINUES TO FINALIZE TRAVEL BUBBLE IMPLEMENTATION SCHEME

IN THE process of implementing the travel bubble, the Indonesia’s (RI) government will set certain conditions for foreign tourists entering Indonesia. The government continues to finalize the implementation of the travel bubble policy by involving the role of a number of countries that have succeeded in controlling the Corona virus to create community travel corridors.

According to the Head of the Behavior Change Division of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Sonny Harmadi, Sunday (6/6) said this bubble will make it easier for residents who live in it to travel freely, and avoid mandatory self-quarantine.

“There are 3 areas that are planned to be a priority for the recovery of the tourism sector, namely Bintan, Batam and Bali. The government is finalizing the application of the travel bubble in the 3 regions. The government is preparing a number of considerations for areas that are included in the travel bubble program, including a low positive case rate and active cases and hospital capacity in a safe condition for easing public activities,” he said.

Sonny explained that the stages to be carried out by the Ministry of Tourism include opening gates for foreign tourists in Bali and the Riau Islands. The local government has set green zones in the 2 provinces that will be visited by foreign tourists after the travel bubble is opened.

“In addition, the area is also confirmed to be included in the criteria for the green zone or the area with the lowest spread of the Corona virus and the most ready to implement the COVID-19 protocol. In Bali, green zones will be established in Sanur, Ubud and Nusa Dua,” Sonny noted.

He added that on the other hand, in the Riau Islands, the government has set green zones in 3 resorts in the Bintan area and several golf center points in Batam. In the process of implementing the travel bubble, the government will set certain conditions for foreign tourists entering Indonesia.

“For example, tourists must do a PCR swab test with a negative result for the Corona virus before leaving and after arriving in Indonesia. The government will also ensure that foreign tourists entering the country have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

“The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy has finalized a cooperation plan to open foreign tourist gates with 4 countries through the travel bubble scheme,” he underlined.

Sonny Harmadi pointed out that these countries include the Middle East, such as the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, China, Singapore, and the Netherlands. Tourist attractions are currently being encouraged to implement the Ministry of Tourism’s policies in the form of health protocols based on Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environment Sustainability [CHSE].

“The COVID-19 Handling Task Force has also formed and placed task force officers at tourist attractions and implemented health protocols,” he concluded. [antaranews/photo special]
