THE BIMA HORSE RACING IS EXPECTED TO BECOME A NATIONAL-SCALE EVENT

INDONESIA’S Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy supports the Bima horse racing event so that it can become a national-scale event. Horse racing event which is one of the traditions and culture in the region.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, who continued his working visit to Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara. After landing at Sultan Muhammad Salahuddin Airport, Sunday (6/13) said I witnessed firsthand several horse racing competitions at the Panda Village Horse Racing Arena, Palibelo District. And on that occasion, I specifically support the horse racing event so that it can become a national scale event.

“We support horse racing, which is a tradition of the people of Bima and its surroundings, which has been a regional event so that it can become a national scale event,” he said.

In addition, Sandiaga Uno also received input from the local government to support the revitalization of facilities and facilities for the horse racing arena. So that it deserves to be enjoyed by the community and becomes a tourist attraction for tourists who come to Bima.

“We also invite YouTuber Atta Halilintar and his wife and stand-up comedian Rigen Rakelna to be able to promote this activity in an effort to generate tourism and the creative economy, of course, with compliance and discipline in implementing strict and disciplined health protocols in Bima,” he said.

Horse racing (pacoa jara) has become a tradition of the Bima people. This event was witnessed by hundreds or even thousands of spectators who came from various corners of the village. The horses participating in the competition are horses from Bima with little jockeys aged 6 to 9 years. They raced barefoot. Regarding the issue of exploitation of the little jockey or the horse racer, Sandiaga has also met with the Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Bintang Puspayoga to form a team to provide assistance.

“We make sure this activity is in accordance with the feasibility of child protection and we hope that this tradition and culture can continue to be preserved so that it can prosper and become a tourist attraction in Bima,” Minister Sandiaga added.

Meanwhile, the Regent of Bima Indah Dhamayanti Putri explained that the horse racing tradition is very well known. The presence of Minister Sandiaga Uno itself is expected to be a support for the sport, tradition and culture of horse racing in Bima and Sumbawa Island in general. [traveltext.id]
