LUHUT: LABUAN BAJO SHOULD PREPARES FOR THE G20 SUMMIT SIDE EVENT

THE Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, asked the local government of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) to prepare the Labuan Bajo area which will later become the location for a side event at the G20 Summit.

Minister Luhut said the request was made in accordance with President Jokowi’s instructions regarding the implementation of the G20 Summit which will be held in November 2022.

“Last night President Jokowi gave instructions to me to report it here. The President also entrusted the implementation of the G20 Summit in November 2022, later the G20 2022 side event will be here for a few days. So I hope that Governor and Head of Regent, both of you are prepared properly that,” said Luhut when delivering his remarks at the ‘Bangga Buatan Indonesia-Kilau Digital Permata Flobamora’ Event, at Puncak Waringin, Labuan Bajo, NTT, Friday (6/18).

Minister Luhut mentioned a number of repairs that must be carried out immediately, including the issue of cables that must be embedded in the ground to the issue of trees that are requested to be planted immediately. I also asked the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Johnny G Plate, including Telkom and PLN, to be able to resolve the cable problem.

“The president has ordered it to be done, so it must be done. If we can’t carry it out, something is wrong with all of us. I also ask that the local government can start planting trees so that when the G20 Summit takes place next year the trees will be big and lush,” said Luhut.

Not to forget, he also reminded about the cleanliness of the tourism destinations and asked the local government to invite the public to be able to participate in maintaining the cleanliness and beauty of Labuan Bajo.

“We’ll clean the port later. The Head of Regent asked the residents to be relocated, yesterday the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing agreed, we will immediately execute it. The 890 km road will also be executed. So the central government does its part, I ask the regional government to also do its part. We don’t just talk about it, do something, work hard. Don’t talk too much, there’s no point if we don’t have an execution,” Minister Luhut concluded. [antaranews]
