STRUCTURAL ECONOMIC REFORMS CONTINUE AMIDST THE PANDEMIC: JOKOWI

INDONESIA’S President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) emphasized that the government will continue to ensure that structural reforms and economic transformations continue in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

President Jokowi’s affirmation was conveyed in his remarks at the Investor Daily Summit 2021, which was delivered virtually and witnessed in Jakarta, Tuesday (7/13).

“In dealing with the current COVID-19 pandemic, the government from the beginning was very serious about taking steps, both in handling the health side, including the vaccination program, as well as social protection to reduce the burden on the affected community, besides that the government also ensures that the process of reform and structural transformation of the economy continues. running,” said President Jokowi.

President Jokowi emphasized that the pandemic should not be an obstacle to structural economic reforms. He emphasized that the Indonesian people should take advantage of this momentum to accelerate structural reforms.

“We have done this through one of them the issuance of the Job Creation Law and various derivative regulations,” the President noted.

The President said that Indonesia’s economic structure, which has so far been contributed by more than 50 percent of public consumption, must be slowly shifted to a productive production sector, namely by encouraging industrialization, downstreaming, investment and increasing exports.
