THE Government of Ende Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), has prepared the Kelimutu Festival to encourage the growth of the tourism sector in the area amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the Head of the Ende Regency Tourism Office, Martinus Saban when contacted in Kupang, NTT, Saturday (7/24) said we were preparing for the Kelimutu Festival, which is planned to be held on August 14-16, 2021. This festival activity was held to revive the growth of the tourism sector in Ende, Flores Island, which was sluggish due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Martinus explained that this event will present three main attractions, namely the traditional Taga Kamba ceremony, Pati Ka Du’a Bapu Ata Mata, and a cultural festival. In addition, there are also coffee, music, culinary festivals, demonstrations of digital content creation, and various other attractions.
Furthermore, Martiunus said this festival would be held directly with limited participants considering the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation. In addition, it is also done virtually so that it can be witnessed by people from other regions.
“We will strengthen it from the virtual side so that this festival can be enjoyed by people outside Ende. I hope that festival activities can stimulate the growth of the tourism sector in Ende Regency in the midst of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation,” he said.
He added that this is also a promotional effort so that Ende tourism can attract tourist visits, so that after the pandemic subsides, they can come to travel in Ende. [antaranews/photo special]
