INDONESIA’S Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno encourages entrepreneurs to make a number of adaptations in the adjustment of community activity restrictions (PPKM) period until August 2, 2021. For restaurant entrepreneurs, for example, who need to apply the rules for eating in place or dine-in only for 20 minutes, adaptation can start from seating arrangements to service.
According to Sandiaga, during a virtual Weekly Press Briefing, Monday (7/26) in Jakarta said that coordination with local governments can also be an important key for the success of this adjustment period. Therefore, the seating arrangement, the service must be prepared.
“This coordination with the local government will certainly be the key so that PPKM Level-4 will be successful, God willing, and will be relaxed in the future for economic activities. Then, for hoteliers who, according to data from the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) report their average business occupancy is only about a dozen percent and even below 10%, I invite them to participate in providing room facilities as a resting place for health workers who are fighting COVID-19 and residents who are self-isolating,” he said.
Sandiaga added that the proposal, which was initiated by collaborating with PHRI in Garut some time ago, is expected to help increase hotel occupancy by up to 50%. He also invited the entire community, especially economic and creative business actors to comply with and support the government’s policy of extending PPKM Level-4 and easing in various small business sectors that intersect with creative economy products.
“This nation was built with mutual cooperation, for sure the government will not be able to work alone. We need support from various parties, especially elements of the nation, all levels of society to work hand in hand to support PPKM level 4 which is extended until August 2, 2021,” Sandiaga concluded.
