ANANDA SUKARLAN TO SHOW SUNSET IN EASTERN INDONESIA ON OCTOBER 1

AFTER his last concert video on Lake Toba last month was successfully watched by tens of thousands of viewers on YouTube from all over the world, Friday, October 1, Ananda Sukarlan will broadcast his concert from Labuan Bajo and its surroundings, East Nusa Tenggara. That day also coincided with Pancasila Sanctity Day.

The concert produced by the Directorate of Film, Music and New Media will be broadcast on the YouTube channel “My Culture” at 19.00 WIB.

The beauty of nature, especially at sunset, is of course the main menu of this concert, but during the duration of this 1 hour 15-minute video, Ananda brings up the arts and culture of East Nusa Tenggara. Two poets are the focus: Umbu Landu Paranggi (1943-2021) and the younger Mario F. Lawi (born Kupang, 1991). Incidentally, Mario F. Lawi jointly won the 2014 best artist award with Ananda Sukarlan from Tempo magazine. At that time Ananda was the best composer with his opera “Clara”, and Mario F. Lawi was the best writer with his collection of poems “Eucharist”.

This time Ananda was accompanied by the winners of the Ananda Sukarlan Poetry Song competition 2021: Kadek Ari Ananda (first place, baritone) and Alice Cahya Putri (second winner, soprano), the latter of whom is currently continuing his music studies in Hungary. In addition, Gabriella Prisca Handoko, the winner of the Ananda Sukarlan Award, presented the work of Rapsodia Nusantara no. 11 and primed no. 35 specially created by Ananda based on folk songs from the island of Rote, Indonesia’s southernmost island.

Shooting was carried out last August, and took various stunning locations, such as Pink Beach, Padar island, Komodo island, Todo village, the Loccal Collection Hotel complex which is now dubbed the “Santorini of Labuan Bajo” and the very iconic Rangko cave. [traveltext.id]
