THE INDONESIAN Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) welcomes the easing of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in the tourism sector. The easing is the starting point for the tourism sector. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the tourism sector must stop operating to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
“This is good news for tourism sector actors who have been subject to restrictions,” said Secretary General of PHRI Maulana Yusran.
For information, the government opens water tourism in areas that apply PPKM levels 2 and 1. In addition, children under the age of 12 are allowed to enter tourist attractions.
Even so, Maulana said the tourism sector still needs support for relaxation of the burden. The closure of activities for more than 1.5 years requires large capital to re-open.
“At least working capital is needed to reopen. Once opened, they have to prepare a lot of things,” said Maulana.
In addition, Maulana also encouraged increased discipline in the application of health protocols. These include wearing masks, washing hands and keeping a distance.
Discipline of health protocols is the key to preventing a spike in cases. So that the current easing policy can be sustainable. Demand will increase as long as there is no spike again until the end of the year. [kontan.co.id/photo special]
