MINISTRY ADMITS THAT SOCIAL MEDIA CAN CONTROL THE SURGE IN TOURISTS

THE INDONESIAN Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy stated that social media can be a control regarding the implementation of health protocols for tourist attractions when there is a phenomenon of a surge in tourists.

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno on Weekly Press Briefing, Monday (10/18) afternoon said that visitors will review it using social media, and this is one form of our control, if for example there is a crowd, there is no place to wash hands, it can all be done in future corrective steps.

“It has now been more than two months since the Indonesian people have been in a Level 4 Community Activity Restriction (PPKM) situation. So that tourist attractions have the potential to be visited by many tourists when COVID-19 has slowed down recently,” he said.

He explained, therefore, he said that tourism players needed to implement a standard so that the surge in tourists would not result in an overwhelming situation and trigger the transmission of COVID-19. One of them, tourist destinations need to implement CHSE (Cleanliness, Health, Safety, Environment Sustainability) to ensure the safety and health of tourists.

“This is because tourist destinations have never been a cluster of transmission since the outbreak of COVID-19. So, I hope that these conditions need to be maintained in order to ensure safe tourist attractions. In addition, the third wave of COVID-19 has the potential to appear at the end of 2021. I ask every tourism sector not to be careless in anticipating this,” he remarked.

He added that tourism should not be the trigger this time, we must protect our sector so that it can generate a creative economy, restore tourism, and create jobs. [traveltext.id/photo special]
