BALI OPENS FOR FOREIGN TOURISTS, INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS TO BALI STILL ZERO

IT TURNED out that until Monday (10/25), there were no international flights to Bali even though the Island of the Gods had been open for foreign tourist visits since Thursday (10/14).

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, in an online ‘Weekly Press Briefing’ on Monday (10/25), in Kaimana, Sorong, Papua, said foreign tourists are projected to visit Indonesia in November. That there has been a demand and an increase in questions through outreach and promotion.

“For monitoring the evaluation of the opening of Bali, until now there have been no international flights to Bali, but there have been several requests for which final preparations are being made because they relate to the requirements for both quarantine and insurance and also regarding the handling of of course reciprocity or reciprocity from the country,” he said.

There were also requests for discussion from several countries, including Australia and Singapore. He explained that the absence of flights was generally due to the submission of flight slots by the airline after analyzing the level of demand.

“This level of demand still has to be obtained through the results of socialization and promotion by airlines to prospective passengers. The whole process to increase the demand still takes time to realize it, so it cannot be done quickly,” he said.

Sandiaga said that his party was collaborating with travel agencies in 19 countries through the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy as well as the #itstimeforBali campaign. Various tourism products that are considered attractive for foreign tourists to Bali will be prepared. The tourism products in question are dominated by eco-tourism, natural culture heritage, adventure, and wellness.

“For eco-tourism or ecotourism, some of the activities included are trekking, rice terrace walks (walking in the rice fields), and activities in the West Bali National Park. Meanwhile, natural culture heritage includes learning to dance, gastronomic activities, and architectural exploration. For adventure-loving tourists, they can choose an adventure that contains surfing, diving, and cycling activities. Not only that, there is also wellness which contains spa, yoga, spiritual healing, and meditation,” he said.

Sandiaga explained that the decision to reopen Bali for foreign tourists was taken because the community was in a rapidly changing VUCA situation. I gave an example of COVID-19 data that will continue to fluctuate. For information, VUCA stands for volatility (volatility), uncertainty (uncertainty), complexity (complexity), and ambiguity (ambiguity).

“In a situation like this, we really have to be faster in implementing a policy and be prepared to make data-based adjustments. If we wait, the data will continue to change and we will never move,” he concluded. [sources/photo special]
