In addition to Raja Ampat which is a world-class destination, he said, West Papua also has Kaimana Regency which has extraordinary tourism potential.
“The attractions of tourism in Kaimana include nature and culture. However, amenities (supporting facilities for a tourist destination) and accessibility (all things that can make it easier for tourists to visit) will be developed in the future to present 3A (attractions, amenities, and accessibility),” he said.
In his opening remarks, he also said that this conference is expected to be a momentum for economic revival in West Papua and the opening of the widest possible employment opportunities. Moreover, Papua has been known for its rich natural and cultural resources.
“The land of Papua is rich in customs and culture as well as the potential for developing culture-based tourism and natural beauty. We will work with the provincial and district/city governments to make it happen so that quality and sustainable tourism in future development can be realized,” concluded Minister Sandiaga.
