THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy and Airbnb announced a partnership to support Indonesia’s tourism recovery. The cooperation is the first of its kind and is marked by the signing of an agreement that promotes high-quality tourism.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Unop on Thursday (11/25) at a press conference. The MoU Agreement between the Tourism Ministry and Airbnb said that our collaboration with Airbnb was aimed at revitalizing the tourism sector, re-opening the widest possible employment opportunities, and saving lodging businesses in the area. Indonesia’s tourist destinations, starting with Bali.
Sandiaga also said that this collaboration is expected to renew optimism towards the recovery of the tourism sector and prepare various destinations to welcome international and domestic tourists.
This cooperation is also in line with the Indonesian government’s campaigns entitled “Wonderful Indonesia” and “It’s Time for Bali”. This collaboration will enhance the digital skills of local entrepreneurs and highlight the government’s priority destinations in the archipelago, starting with Bali.
The collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and Airbnb includes several things, such as both parties sharing insights and formulating the best steps to support tourism policy making and Indonesia’s creative economy.
The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and Airbnb will work together to encourage travelers who plan to stay for a longer period of time, as well as recommend hidden locations.
In addition, empowering local communities through tourism, especially the five priority destinations in Indonesia that have been determined by the government including Lake Toba, Likupang, Borobudur, Mandalika, and Labuan Bajo.
The two parties will also jointly advance the promotion of destinations in the Tourism Village program from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, through increasing digital skills for local communities.
Not only that, there are also training workshops for local entrepreneurs in selected villages to be equipped with the knowledge and tools to take advantage of the Airbnb platform and introduce accommodation to potential local and international tourists.
This collaboration will begin by highlighting Bali as the main destination by presenting a special microsite from Airbnb through the www.airbnb.com/ItsTimeForBali page.
This MoU agreement came as Airbnb introduced more than 150 updates to its platform this year to support the evolving needs of travelers amidst the travel revolution. [traveltext.id]
