THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy stated that Indonesia’s focus in attending the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2022 is to holistically promote the tourism industry and the creative economy, especially destinations that are included in the five super priority destinations (SPD).
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno said that our focus was on five super priority destinations, namely Lake Toba, Borobudur, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, and Likupang,” Sandiaga said in a virtual Weekly Press Briefing, Monday (1/17).
“The 2022 ATF held in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, from January 16-22, 2022, and the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Angela Tanoesoedibjo, the representative at the largest trade event in Southeast Asia,” he said.

Sandiaga added, at this year’s event with the theme a community of peace and shared future, Indonesia present a 108-square-meter pavilion with 12 tents.
“The main theme of the pavilion is Mandalika. One of Indonesia’s priorities is to provide a broad understanding to the world about Indonesia’s reopening strategy and how to prevent the 10 ASEAN countries from competing, but collaborating,” he said.
“So not only competing, but collaborating so that the recovery and revival of the tourism and economic sectors can be enjoyed by 10 ASEAN members. At this year’s ATF, Indonesia will also receive the baton of chairmanship for the next year. Next year’s ATF will be held in Yogyakarta in January 2023,” he stated.
He added that what was very strategic was that the ATF would shift its chairmanship from Cambodia to Indonesia. As part of the preparations for ATF 2023, Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) can be operated immediately and Borobudur can be connected to the new Transjawa Toll Road, as well as the rail network for delegates’ access options.
“Hopefully, Indonesia’s chairmanship at ATF will further prepare for economic revival and these economic opportunities will be followed by the opening of much-needed job opportunities in the tourism sector,” Sandiaga concluded. [sources/pecial photo]
