AUSTRALIA LIFTS COVID-19 VACCINATION RULES FOR FOREIGN TOURISTS PER JULY 6

THE AUSTRALIAN government no longer requires foreign tourists to show proof of their COVID-19 vaccination status upon arrival, starting Wednesday (7/06) at 00:01 local time. This decision was taken based on medical advice and refers to changes to the 2015 Biosecurity Act in Australia.

Even so, tourists must still comply with the COVID`-19 requirements set by each airline, as well as other states and territories, including wearing masks while traveling to Australia.

The Chief Medical Officer has advised that arrivals no longer need to show their vaccine status, said Australian Federal Health Minister Mark Butler, citing the Australian Ministry of Health website, Monday (7/04). Quoting from the Smart Traveler Australia page, starting 6 July 2022, at 00.01 local time, here are a number of conditions for international arrivals. International arrivals no longer require filling out a Digital Passenger Declaration or Maritime Travel Declaration when entering Australia:

(1). No longer need proof of COVID-19 vaccination status, (2). Must wear a mask during the trip to Australia, (3). Australians can travel to Australia regardless of their COVID-19 vaccination status, (4). If already vaccinated, foreign tourists must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination to airline staff or cruise ship staff at check-in.

(5). Proof of COVID-19 vaccination may also need to be presented to border officials upon arrival in Australia, (6). Children under 12 years old on the day they arrive in Australia do not need to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination. [sources/photo special]
