THE BOROBUDUR TEMPLE ARRANGEMENT CONSIDERS OF CULTURAL HERITAGE ASPECTS

THE REARRANGEMENT of the Borobudur Temple tourist area takes into account two main aspects, namely the interests of cultural heritage and the use of technology.

According to the Minister of Communications and Information, Johnny G Plate, Thursday (7/14) emphasized that there are two things at the same time that are the main considerations, the first is the service quality of telecommunications services remains good. Both the importance of cultural heritage and the tourism industry in Borobudur as one of Indonesia’s five super priority tourism destinations are also additional main requirements.

Johnny said that the arrangement of cultural heritage was given top priority following the direction of President Joko Widodo, so that apart from developing the local economy, the cultural heritage was also preserved.

Borobudur Temple is currently undergoing a reorganization of the area as a typical Indonesian DPSP, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics is responsible for better managing the telecommunications infrastructure to support the new tourist experience.

“Of course, not only the position of the infrastructure has been arranged, but a more qualified management flow has also been prepared so that services in the tourist area are more optimal,” he said.

Furthermore, Johnny emphasized that the telecommunications and information technology sector is part of a package of policies for the new face of Borobudur.

He hopes that the impression of every visitor’s eyes is not only admiration for Borobudur but also can see the artistic arrangement of telecommunications infrastructure.

“Thus, support services that previously did not look attractive, in the future can become part of the new face of Borobudur as a tourist area.  If it’s the tower model, it can be a package that is the new face of Borobudur, especially with the current technological advances,” Johnny remarked.

To achieve this, Johnny asked telecommunications operators and telecommunications tower operators to redesign the maximum height of the tower to 283 meters above sea level or the same height as the Arupadhatu terrace of Borobudur Temple.

“Thus the existing telecommunications infrastructure can be a part and create harmony with the new face of Borobudur. We do all of this to ensure the digitization of the Borobudur tourist area while maintaining the quality of the ecosystem and its sustainability; all of this must be built in harmony,” he concluded.
