THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy conveyed that regarding the application of digital nomad visas, which were still in the discussion stage and became inter-ministerial homework.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno in an online Weekly Press Briefing, Monday (7/25) saying this is homework for us, that it is on the top of priority list. It was just discussed so that there was significant progress.
“However, he continued, according to a communication with the Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly, the decision to apply or cancel the digital nomad visa is in the coordination meeting between ministers. The digital nomad visa is planned to be given to foreign nationals (foreigners) who want to work while on vacation in Indonesia, in connection with the work from anywhere phenomenon around the world,” Sandiaga said.
He explained that the visa that was made to respond to the flow of digitalization and behavior patterns of remote workers was planned to be valid for five years. The goal is that Indonesia can attract more tourists who have a long stay or length of stay.
“It was recorded that as many as 95% appointed Indonesia, especially Bali, as the first destination for remote workers. The nomad digital visa policy is also aligned to support the achievement of the target of 1.5 million foreign tourists to travel in Bali,” he stated.
He concluded, I also hope that the quality of foreign tourist visits to Bali can reach between 50 and 60% with a longer length of stay and a higher quality of spending. [sources/photo special]
