THE ADDITION occurred after the airline Cathay Pacific resumed operations with the Hong Kong-Denpasar-Hong Kong flight route. With the resumption of the operation of this route, Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport serves 24 international routes from a total of 27 airlines in total.
According to the General Manager of Bali International Airport I Gusti Ngurah Rai Handy Heryudhitiawan, the resumption of Cathay Pacific has had a significant impact on the tourism sector in Bali.
This is also seen as a strong signal for the rise of Bali tourism considering that Hong Kong was one of the flight routes that was quite busy before the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Based on records in 2019, we served 671,168 travelers from Hong Kong in total,” said Handy Heryudhitiawan.
Handy Heryudhitiawan said that until November 26, 2022 Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport had served a total of 3,699,665 international passengers.
It is believed that Cathay Pacific’s flights to Bali will further increase the achievements of international route passengers, especially tourists from Hong Kong who are served by Bali Airport.
It is hoped that the operation of the flight route will further increase the connectivity of Bali Island to areas in the People’s Republic of China, apart from Taipei which is currently operating again.
“We hope that the opening of this route will further enliven air traffic on the Island of the Gods, especially ahead of the 2022 Christmas and 2023 New Year periods,” Handy Heryudhitiawan concluded. [sources/photo special]
