THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy said that the certainty that tourists can go up to the Borobudur Temple building in Magelang Regency, Central Java, is still being studied.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno said that it is still being studied because we don’t want the conservation aspect to be neglected later, now it is being confirmed.
Therefore, said Sandiaga, the government has not been able to give permission for visitors to climb onto the structure of the Borobudur Temple.
According to him, later there will be a limit on tourists going up to Borobudur Temple, namely 1,200 people per day. However, this is still under discussion between the manager and the conservation party so that it can then be made into a cross-ministerial decision.
“Now from the conservation aspect this is being calculated again. There is indeed a limit of around 1,200 people per day who can go up to the temple. This has yet to be ascertained and what the pattern will be, what the obstacles will be,” he said.
Sandiaga Uno estimates that visitors will be able to climb into the Borobudur Temple building structure in the second quarter of 2023. What is certain, there is no fee as previously discussed. [antaranews/photo special]
