THE SINGAPORE Tourism Board (STB) noted that throughout 2022, Singapore’s tourism sector has strengthened after the COVID-19 pandemic. Indonesian tourists recorded the highest number of visits to Singapore.
The number of Indonesian tourists visiting Singapore throughout 2022 was recorded the highest with 1.1 million tourists visiting Singapore. Then followed by India 686 thousand tourists and Malaysia 591 tourists.
Indonesia also contributed the largest revenue to Singapore tourism with 1.1 billion Singapore dollars, then India 704 million Singapore dollars and Australia 633 million Singapore dollars.
“Overall, the number of tourist visits to Singapore in 2022 is 6.3 million.
Singapore’s tourism revenue is estimated at 13.8 to 14.3 Singapore dollars,” said Area Director, STB Indonesia, Muhamed Firhan Abdul Salam in Banda Aceh, Monday (01/23), 2023.
He said that his party continues to work with partners to increase the growth rate of tourism in Singapore. This is to make Singapore the destination of choice for Indonesians.
“Travel agents and associations still play an important role in this ecosystem.
STB will continue to foster good relationships to open up opportunities for leisure, MICE and fly cruise travel,” he said.
Indonesians themselves have their own way of considering and booking travel.
Because of this, Firhan said, his party collaborated with conventional travel agents such as traveloka, Klook, Agoda and AirAsia. In addition, his party continues to do branding by collaborating with Maher Zain to promote Singapore as a halal destination or Halal Tourism.
“Singapore sees the trend of increasing the halal economy and halal tourism, and the importance of meeting the needs of Muslim tourists when visiting a country,” he concluded. [sources/photo special]
