TWO MINISTRIES OPTIMISTIC TOURISM DEV’T TARGETS CAN BE COMPLETED SOON

THE COORDINATING Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy are optimistic that the performance targets for the development of the tourism sector and creative economy based on the President’s direction in the 2020-2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan can be completed before the end of President Joko Widodo’s leadership term.

According to the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, during the Coordination Meeting of the 2023-2024 Ministry/Institution Work Program and the Implementation of National Strategic KPIs, National Strategic Projects, Presidential Promises, Major Projects, SDGS, and Presidential Directives which took place at Balairung Soesilo Soedarman, Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta, Wednesday (02/08), 2023 said I advised all ministries/institutions to coordinate more closely and work quickly, efficiently, and effectively considering the timeframe for completing the work is not too long.

“Because this government has only 19 months left, so we must really prepare so that there will be no projects that are not completed,” Luhut said.

Meanwhile, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno said that one of the focuses of development that must be completed immediately is the five Super Priority Tourism Destinations (SPTDs). For example, Likupang which is still constrained in land to infrastructure such as the availability of clean water. Tourism Ministry will strengthen collaboration and coordination with relevant ministries/institutions to accelerate development and resolve obstacles still encountered in the field.

“Everything related to the five Super Priority Tourism Destinations is targeted to be completed by the end of 2023 or mid-2024. Another performance target that needs to be achieved is the movement of archipelago tourists of 1.4 billion in 2023. This is a fairly large target. We require mobile positioning-based data that can calculate the absolute number of tourist movements,” Sandiaga said.

As for foreign tourists, he continued, we will issue real data every month. So that foreign tourist visits can be monitored every month. Until reaching the upper limit target of 7.4 million movements. The GDP of the parekraf sector to the Indonesian economy itself is currently still below 4%. While the GDP target for the tourism and creative economy sector in 2023 is at 4.1%.

“But I am sure, if we continue to make improvements, we will achieve this in 2024 above the 4.2% target,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
