AIRASIA Indonesia has introduced a new livery for its Airbus A320 PK-AZR featuring the natural beauty of Lake Toba, kecombrang flowers, and Toba weaving to support the development of Lake Toba tourism.
In collaboration with Tobatenun, Lake Toba Authority Board (BPODT), and Injourney, the launch of the new aircraft livery was carried out ahead of the 2023 F1 Powerboat World Championship international event on Lake Toba February 24-26, 2023.
According to the President Director of Indonesia AirAsia, Veranita Yosephine, said the livery of AirAsia’s aircraft is themed around the natural beauty and woven fabrics of Toba. The fuselage is decorated with illustrations depicting the process of making woven fabrics against the backdrop of the natural beauty of Lake Toba.
Veranita expressed her pleasure that AirAsia can contribute to the development and promotion of tourism in the Lake Toba region and its surroundings as one of the Super Priority Destinations.
“Last year we opened the Silangit route. Since its operation, the average occupancy rate of the Silangit route for each flight has reached 83.6 percent. This is proof that the public accepts the existence of AirAsia as the airline of choice,” Veranita said during the launch of AirAsia’s new aircraft livery at GMF Aeroasia Hangar 4, Friday (17/2).
She continued, her party also hopes that this collaboration will open up opportunities to attract many tourists to visit Lake Toba and its surroundings, so that economic growth and tourism in the local area can continue to grow.
To support the development of Lake Toba tourism, Veranita revealed that starting February 16, AirAsia Indonesia increased flight frequency by serving flights on the Jakarta-Silangit route 7 days a week using an Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity of 180 passengers.
Meanwhile, CEO and Founder of Tobatenun Kerrina Basaria said she was very happy to be able to contribute to promoting the Lake Toba region and its surroundings together with Indonesia AirAsia.
Kerri said the images seen on the fuselage represent Tobatenun’s creative work, namely contemporary woven fabric motifs inspired by traditional Batak woven fabric motifs, women weavers, the beauty of Lake Toba and the richness of Batak culture such as bunga rias or kecombrang which is often used in Batak dishes such as ikan arsik or sambal rias.
“We hope that the aircraft livery will invite curiosity about the richness of crafts and communities in North Sumatra, and even attract the public to come visit and experience traveling directly on Lake Toba,” Kerrina concluded. [sources/photo special]
