MINISTRY AND IDX HOLDS CAPITAL MARKET TALK FOR CREATIVE ECONOMY PLAYERS

THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy together with the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) held a Capital Market Talk for tourism and creative economy actors to Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Yogyakarta to provide inspiration on how to get financing from the capital market, especially through the Initial Public Offering (IPO) scheme.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno in his statement in Jakarta, Saturday (02/18), 2023 explained that the Ministry of Tourism took the initiative to bring together tourism and creative economy businesses with alternative non-banking financing sources through capital market financing schemes.

“The enormous potential and opportunities of the capital market are expected to encourage and accelerate tourism and creative economy business actors to be able to list on the Indonesia Stock Exchange with an initial public offering scheme or better known as an IPO,” he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy for Industry and Investment of the Ministry of Tourism, Rizki Handayani, said that the number of capital market retail investors had reached 10.31 million investors as of December 2022, a great potential and opportunity for parekraf companies to get investors considering the biggest problem in tourism and creative economy business development is financing.

“We hope there will be collaboration with other institutions such as local governments to jointly encourage businesses to scale up through IPOs so that activities like this can reach a wider community,” she said.

Regarding the appointment of Yogyakarta as the host of the activity, Rizky Handayani said that her party was optimistic about the potential of Yogyakarta’s tourism and creative economy sector MSMEs which proved successful in recording B2C (Business to Consumer) transactions of IDR8,120,036,447 at the Travex Asian Tourism Forum activity.

On the same occasion, the Director of Access to Financing of the Ministry of Tourism, Anggara Hayun Anujuprana, conveyed that the Roadshow Program for Tourism and Creative Economy Businesses towards IPO includes Literacy related to capital markets in capital market talk activities, KreatIPO Coaching Clinic, one on one meeting activities with supporting professions in order to identify IPO readiness in aspects of regulation, finance, legality, and underwriter readiness.

“Then further there is selection into IDX Incubator, coaching by IDX Incubator, monitoring by Tourism Ministry, and Demo Day to bring together companies with supporting professionals who will help prepare for IPO,” Anggara said. [traveltext.id]
