DUBAI INT’L AIRPORT SETS AIMING FOR 78 MILLION PASSENGERS THIS YEAR

DUBAI International Airport (DXB), United Arab Emirates is aiming for 78 million travelers to use the services of the world’s busiest airport this year. The target was set after seeing a surge in passenger trends in the past year.

“DXB expects to serve 78 million passengers this year and with Dubai hosting international events including the Dubai Airshow and COP28, it will be a new challenge and opportunity,” DXB CEO Paul Griffiths was quoted as saying by Zawya, Tuesday (02/21), 2023.

DXB is one of the busiest international hubs, serving 66 million passengers last year. That figure grew 127% (yoy) mainly thanks to a rapid surge in the final quarter of 2022.

In the fourth quarter of 2022, DXB recorded 19.73 passengers served or grew 67 percent compared to the same period the previous year. This made it the busiest period since 2019.

India is the main destination in traffic volume in 2022 which reached 9.8 million passengers. Then, followed by Saudi Arabia with 4.9 million passengers, the UK with 4.6 million passengers, and Pakistan with 3.7 million passengers. [sources/photo special]
