MINISTER SANDIAGA: F1 POWERBOAT RACERS STAY LONGER IN INDONESIA

INDONESIA’S Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno said world racers competing in the first round of the 2023 F1 Powerboat World Championship (F1H2O) will stay longer to enjoy the beauty of Indonesia, especially Lake Toba.

The racers have completed the race in the waters of Lake Toba, Muliaraja Napitupulu Port area, Balige, North Sumatra, Sunday. Stromoy Racing rider Bartek Marszalek won the first edition of the race on the world’s largest volcanic lake.

After the race rolled around, Sandiaga said, the world riders did not necessarily go home. “All riders do not go home today or tomorrow. But they will have an extension until Thursday (2/3) even more,” Sandiaga said in Balige, Sunday (02/26), 2023.

The world riders deliberately extended the time to stay longer in Indonesia because there was a pause before returning to race in the second round which rolled in Zhengzhou, China on April 29-30, 2023.

“So they decided to extend their stay in Sumatra and some will go to other destinations such as Bali and Jakarta,” Sandiaga added.

The F1 Powerboat racers did feel a different atmosphere because it was the first time racing on Lake Toba. Since arriving in Indonesia, they have been amazed by the beauty of nature, especially in Sumatra.

Even the race winner, Marszalek, said he was looking forward to racing again on the lake which has a length of 100-kilometers with a depth of more than 500-meters.

“Indonesia has the honor of hosting the opening of eight rounds rolling throughout the 2023 season. The plan is that Lake Toba will host for five years or until 2027. The F1 Powerboat event is a momentum to accelerate the revival and recovery of tourism and the economy in Indonesia,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
