DESTINATIONS that are crowded with attractions so as to attract the attention of homecoming travelers also boost occupancy or the level of availability of hotel rooms at every momentum of the Lebaran (Eid) holidays.
“For destinations that have interesting attractions, occupancy can usually be above 90 percent. So, each province or district/city has its own characteristics. For example, on Java Island there is Puncak-Bogor Puncak, there is also Bandung and Yogyakarta,” said Secretary General of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Maulana Yusran, Wednesday (04/05), 2023.
According to Maulana, almost all areas in Java have the potential to increase occupancy because they have tourist destinations. Meanwhile, outside Java, Sumatra and Bali are also one of the favorite destinations for Lebaran (Eid) holiday travelers.
“In Java, especially East Java, Central Java, and Yogyakarta generally always reach the highest level of occupancy, including Bogor, Bandung. In addition, there is also Bali. Meanwhile, Sumatra Island has its own characteristics, namely cross-province destinations, especially in West Sumatra and North Sumatra, which have the potential for a large increase in the extension of tourist movements,” he added.
Maulana assessed that the Government’s move to officially revoke the Enforcement of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) for all regions of Indonesia in December last year will also have an impact on ease of access for travelers so that it has the potential to increase hotel occupancy figures.
“During PPKM, travel costs increased along with the many obligations for travelers to carry out health protocol travel procedures. In 2022, although there is still PPKM, the fact is that the increase has occurred plus the Joint Leave which at that time was quite long up to ten days,” he said.
The absence of restrictions on activities during the Lebaran (Eid) holiday and supported by better infrastructure, continued Maulana, provides many choices for the community so that the trend of going home or traveling using private vehicles will increase.
“Currently there are more choices than last year, for example at that time by plane there were still many health protocols requirements. So, the choices for travelers including land, sea and air are getting wider at this time,” Maulana concluded. [antaranews/photo special]
