MINISTRY OF TOURISM AND EMIRATES STRENGTHEN COLLABORATION ON TOURISM

THE INDONESIA’S Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is strengthening collaboration with international airline Emirates to increase the potential of the domestic tourism sector.

Through this collaboration, Kementerian Pariwisata and Emirates solidify their commitment to strengthen the promotion of Indonesia as a preferred tourist destination by launching joint marketing campaigns and initiatives.

“We hope that the cooperation between Tourism Ministry and Emirates will be sustainable, and open up opportunities for strategic cooperation with related stakeholders, so that we can jointly advance tourism and also the creative economy in Indonesia,” Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno said in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday (5/3).

He ensured that the signing of the cooperation with Emirates at the Arabian Travel Market, Dubai, UAE, was an extension of the previous commitment to support Indonesia’s travel and tourism sector.

“Of course, our main goal is that this cooperation can increase the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia, which in turn can contribute to increasing the country’s foreign exchange earnings from the tourism sector and increasing employment,” he said.

This cooperation will also strengthen Emirates’ commercial objectives and business operations in Indonesia, enable Emirates to expand its reach among Indonesian travelers, and increase customer awareness through collaborative activities.

Meanwhile, Emirates Senior Vice President Commercial Operations Far East Orhan Abbas said this collaboration will open up opportunities to answer the potential increase in customer demand to fly to Indonesia through scheduled flights to Jakarta and Denpasar.

“We are pleased to continue the strategic cooperation between Emirates and Kemenparekraf with world-class facilities and connectivity through our global network to various beautiful tourist destinations in Indonesia, as well as increasing traffic from our key markets, including the UK, US, Germany, France, Italy and Spain,” he said.

In addition, this cooperation can strengthen the relationship between the UAE and Indonesia which has been established through strong economic ties and similarities in values considering that both countries have common goals in advancing sustainable development.

Previously, the Ministry of Tourism and Emirates have entered into a partnership in 2021 that allows Emirates to help Indonesia’s tourism recovery and promote many unique and popular tourist destinations throughout Indonesia.

In addition, Emirates supports Indonesian tourism through partnerships with Garuda Indonesia and Batik Air in 2022 offering connectivity to 29 cities in Indonesia, in addition to Jakarta and Denpasar for loyal customers.

As part of its development plan in Indonesia, Emirates is also set to serve flights to Denpasar, Bali with A380 aircraft starting June 1, 2023. This service marks a milestone in Indonesian aviation history with the first scheduled A380 service in Indonesia.

Emirates, which has been serving the Indonesian market since 1992, has also contributed significantly to the national trade sector through export-import flights over its three decades of operation, and continues to support local communities through its portfolio as a global sports sponsor.
