AIRASIA-GREEN REBEL SERVES PLANT-BASED DISHES ON REGIONAL FLIGHTS

INDONESIAN plant-based protein pioneer Green Rebel collaborated with Santan by AirAsia to launch Southeast Asian vegan and vegetarian dishes on regional flight menus. This collaboration is a form of AirAsia’s commitment in providing the best service for its passengers according to their healthy lifestyle needs and tastes.

According to the Co-Founder and CEO of Green Rebel, Helga Angelina Tjahjadi in her press release said that this collaboration was the first to partner with AirAsia airline. Green Rebel is the first plant-based meat brand to partner with AirAsia in Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia. Green Rebel and AirAsia have aligned values, particularly the commitment to environmental sustainability and localization of taste.

For the first time this service was implemented on 18 July, AirAsia passengers flying to Malaysia can enjoy Pak Nasser’s Plant-Based Nasi Lemak, which is a 100 percent plant-based version of AirAsia Malaysia’s signature menu.

Served with a mix of basmati rice and purple rice, topped with Green Rebel Chick’n Chunks and curried eggplant, long beans, and potatoes.

Meanwhile those flying to the Philippines can enjoy savory and delicious vegetarian Sisig. This dish usually contains minced pork, onions, and chicken liver, but this dish has been replaced with Plant Mince Green Rebel seasoned with calamansi, onions and chilies, served with white rice and mayonnaise.

And starting 25 July, passengers flying with AirAsia in Indonesia can enjoy two variants of plant-based dishes, namely Nasi Rendang with cassava and green chili sauce Padang style and Rendang with Coconut Rice which will be available on 15 August.

This Rendang uses the best-selling Green Rebel seasoning, and Nasi Rendang features Green Rebel Beefless Rendang served with white rice, cassava leaves and green chili sauce.

All Green Rebel products are halal, made from 100 percent natural vegetable ingredients, and are free from additives such as MSG, preservatives, and processed sugar. Non-GMO soybeans and shiitake mushrooms form the basis of Green Rebel’s vegetable protein. The use of Asian spices and seasonings such as lemongrass, galangal, turmeric, coriander, tamarind, and chilies impart not only the taste, but also the umami that is familiar to the Asian tongue.

Meanwhile, Santan, AirAsia’s catering arm, has replaced animal proteins such as beef, chicken, and pork in traditional meat-based dishes with Beefless Rendang, Chick’n Chunks and Plant Mince which are vegetable proteins from Green Rebel.

Today, Green Rebel is the leading plant-based protein brand in Indonesia and one of the most exciting plant-based meat brands in this part of the world. In 2022, the brand was launched in Singapore, the first market outside Indonesia, and has since expanded to Malaysia, South Korea, Philippines, Vietnam, and other markets in the future.
