AROUND 19 COUNTRIES ARE INTERESTED PARTICIPATING IN BUILDING IKN: OIKN

THE NUSANTARA Capital City Authority (OIKN) revealed that as of June 2023 there were around 19 countries interested in participating in the development of the Nusantara National Capital City (IKN) in East Kalimantan.

“As of June 2023, companies or investors interested in participating in IKN have come from around 19 countries with a total of approximately 256 foreign companies such as the United States, Japan, Singapore, Europe and many other countries,” said Deputy for Green and Digital Transformation OIKN Mohammed Ali Berawi in an online discussion which was attended in Jakarta, Tuesday (8/01), 2023.

According to Ali, the interest of these countries is also classified by OIKN, for example for technology there are around 25 global companies, then there are 55 foreign companies interested in infrastructure development.

“As for new renewable energy, there are 29 national and international companies that are interested in participating. How is the enthusiasm in building the National Archipelagic Sciences a positive indication that what is being built is a modern city, in which to create leaps and bounds for human civilization,” he remarked.

Ali explained that this attracts all participation from various countries. Of course, later in the implementation of cooperation, it will result in cooperation that is mutually beneficial not only for investors, but also beneficial for the government as a provider of public projects, and simultaneously does not burden the public to access services of these project.

Based on Presidential Regulation Number 63 of 2022 concerning Details of the Nusantara Capital City Master Plan, investment and funding schemes for the Nusantara Capital City come from the State Budget, Government and Business Entity Cooperation (PPP), investment cooperation with Business Entities, International Funding/Financing Support, and Creative Financing.

The funding scheme is aimed at maintaining fiscal and using creative and innovative funding schemes while maintaining accountability. [antaranews/photo special]
