CITILINK airline launched direct flights from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang to Perth International Airport, Australia for the first time on Saturday (7/29), 2023.
According to Citilink President Director Dewa Rai said the opening of this international route was expected to improve bilateral relations between the two countries.
“So that it can increase the potential for cooperation in various sectors such as culture, economy, politics, social and so on,” said Dewa, in his press release.
He continued, the launch of this flight route was the first time for Citilink to directly connect the city of Jakarta, Indonesia with the city of Perth, Western Australia after previously Citilink operated a flight route to Perth from Denpasar.
So, in line with the recently received global award from Skytrax, Citilink is optimistic that this advantage can be an added value in attracting public interest, both Indonesian and foreign tourists, to visit Jakarta and Perth, and vice versa.
Meanwhile Acting Chief Executive Officer of Perth Airport Kate Holsgrove said that the Citilink Perth-Jakarta service brings more competition and choices for travelers.
“It’s great that Citilink is back, especially as this service will bring nearly 190,000 additional seats to market,” she said.
Kate added, as a significant trading partner with a population of 273 million people, this new service to Indonesia will bring more business and trade opportunities.
