GARUDA INCREASES INT’L FREQUENCY FLIGHTS ON SEVERAL ROUTES

NATIONAL airline PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk (GIAA) is expanding its flight network to maximize the growth momentum of the national tourism sector. This commitment is carried out through steps to increase flight frequency on flight routes that are the main preferences of service users.

Steps to increase the frequency of flight routes will be carried out in stages in the period November to December 2023. In November 2023, a number of flight route frequencies will be increased, including Narita-Denpasar round trip from the previous 5 times a week to 7 times a week.

Guangzhou–Jakarta round trip which was previously served 3 times a week will become 4 times a week, Shanghai–Jakarta round trip which was previously served 2 times a week will become 3 times a week, Melbourne–Denpasar round trip which was previously served 3 times a week will become 4 times a week. Sunday, and Singapore–Denpasar round trip which was previously served 5 times a week to 7 times a week.

Meanwhile, in December 2023, Garuda Indonesia also plans to increase the frequency on the return Sydney-Jakarta route, which was previously served 4 times a week to 5 times a week, and the return Seoul-Denpasar route, which was previously served 2 times a week, to 4 times a week. Sundays and Sydney–Denpasar round trips which were previously served 4 times per week have now become 5 times per week.

According to the President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Irfaniaputra, the increase in flight frequency on a number of flight routes is in line with Garuda Indonesia’s ongoing steps in realizing increased production capacity and maximizing the potential for foreign tourist visits to various leading tourist destinations in Indonesia.

“With the trend in the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia reaching 1 million tourists per month by the end of the first semester of 2023, it is hoped that this increase in international flight frequency can support the realization of the target of visiting foreign tourists of up to 8.5 million people by the end of 2023,” said Irfan in a press release, Thursday (10/19), 2023.

In line with the momentum of the revival of the national tourism sector, Garuda Indonesia continues to record growth in passenger traffic, especially in the international aviation sector.

Until the beginning of the third quarter of 2023, Garuda Indonesia recorded growth in international route passengers of up to 215% to 859,061 passengers, when compared to the same period last year.

“With the opportunity for growth in passengers on international routes which continues to show promising potential, we are quite optimistic that by the end of 2023, especially through the momentum of the year-end holidays, the number of passengers can grow by up to 30% compared to the period at the end of last year,” concluded Irfan.
