VOLVO EM90 RELEASED AS VOLVO’s FIRST MINIVAN, LEXUS LM CAN BE COMPETED

LEXUS LM must be alert, Volvo has just released the new electric car Volvo EM90 via an online premiere on Sunday (11/12), 2023. The Volvo EM90 was launched as the first electric-powered luxury van in Volvo’s long history.

The presence of Volvo’s first electric minivan also complements the choice of the Scandinavian brand’s flagship car along with the Volvo EX90.

According to Jim Rowan, Chief Executive Officer of Volvo Cars, with the EM90, we are bringing Volvo’s leadership and heritage in safety to the electric MPV segment. Allows us to enter new markets that we have not touched before and expand the appeal of the Volvo brand to more consumers.

So, to create the EM90, Volvo actually took the easy route because it took the Zeekr 009 as its basis. Volvo then gave the EM90 its signature touches including Thor rear headlights, Volvo illuminated grille panels, and rims following the EX90.

Entering the interior, the driver and passengers are greeted with typical Volvo luxury although there are several things similar to the Zeekr. Of course, the best treat of the Volvo EM90 is the sensation of quiet yet powerful driving thanks to the electric drive.

The EM90 gets a rear-wheel drive electric motor which is said to be capable of producing 200 kW or 268 hp. Even though it doesn’t say how much torque, Volvo claims the EM90 can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.3 seconds.

Regarding the battery, Volvo equips the EM90 with a Lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 116 kWh, slightly smaller than the Zeekr. But this large capacity battery is capable of providing a claimed mileage of up to 738 kilometers according to the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC). [sources/photo special]
