THE INDONESIA’S Ministry of Transportation found that three airlines violated the provisions on selling tickets at prices above the threshold during Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024.
“Meanwhile, I have to look at the data again, but before Nataru it already existed, especially in eastern Indonesia. There are two, three airlines,” said Ministry of Transportation spokesperson Adita Irawati after the opening of the 2023 and New Year 2024 Christmas Transport Center Post at the Ministry of Transportation Office, Jakarta, Tuesday (12/19), 2023.
Although she did not want to name the airline that violated this rule, Adita said that violations of ticket sales at prices exceeding the upper limit tended to occur on routes that were only controlled or operated by one airline.
Regarding the price of transportation tickets, especially planes, which have an upward trend ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays, Adita believes that this is still at a reasonable stage considering that there is a surge in demand.
“When it comes to tariffs, there is always a corridor. The tendency is that when demand increases, prices will rise, everything at the upper limit will remain stuck at the upper limit. Well, as long as it doesn’t exceed, we certainly don’t have any problems with that, that’s when it’s violated,” she explained.
Even though the percentage of ticket price violations is only small, he emphasized that the Ministry of Transportation still provides sanctions in stages according to the provisions starting with sanctions in the form of a warning.
“This is what we are improving. As a ticket regulator, we continue to communicate with airlines to ensure there are no violations and if there are, we often give sanctions according to the provisions,” Adita said.
A survey by the Transportation Policy Agency of the Ministry of Transportation noted that as many as 107 million people will travel in the form of tourism and going home during the momentum of Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024. Based on the results of the survey of 40 thousand respondents, as many as 11% of them chose to use planes as a mode of transportation. on Christmas and New Year holidays. [antaranews]
