THE INDONESIAN government continues to strive to reduce domestic airline ticket prices as a step to encourage increased domestic tourist movements by 2024 with a target of 1.2 billion to 1.5 billion tourist movements.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, during The Weekly Press Briefing in Jakarta, Monday (01/22), 2024, said people still complained about high domestic plane ticket prices. Several media partners also asked us whether there was a possibility that domestic airline ticket prices would fall.
“I heard the aspirations of the community for more than the last 9 months. And this is what we need to find a solution for in our future steps. We continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of BUMN and airlines,” he said.
Sandiaga also saw the seriousness of reducing domestic airline ticket prices from stakeholders. This matter also continues to be coordinated intensively between stakeholders so that concrete steps can be taken.
“Because this is burdensome for players in the tourism and creative sector and we are trying to reduce the cost of domestic plane tickets to make them more affordable. We are currently still continuing to study all the possibilities and impacts of reducing domestic airline ticket prices,” Sandiaga remarked.
