THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy appreciates the success of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2024 (MotoGP Mandalika), which was held at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit on September 27-29, 2024.
According to the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Angela Tanoesoedibjo when attending the third day of MotoGP Mandalika which was the race day, Sunday (09/29), 2024 at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara said that we and all Indonesian tourism people appreciate the success of the world-class sports tourism event MotoGP Mandalika in 2024.
“Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2024 in Mandalika is not only a world-class sports tourism event, but also a great promotional space for Indonesian tourism through the nation branding “Wonderful Indonesia” to the world,” said Angela.
She explained that the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in cooperation with MGPA (Mandalika Circuit Manager) and Dorna Sports (MotoGP Commercial Rights Holder) have re-positioned the “Wonderful Indonesia” nation branding at various strategic points both inside and outside the Mandalika Circuit track. Such as signage, pennants and others. Including on the parade truck used by the riders to greet MotoGP fans at Mandalika.
“In addition to cooperating in promoting Indonesian tourism, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is also cooperating in supporting the preparation of facilities and infrastructure for the 2024 Mandalika MotoGP. The MotoGP, which will be broadcast live by more than 100 television channels around the world, will certainly provide a wide reach for the Wonderful Indonesia nation branding,” Angela stated.
The implementation of Mandalika MotoGP 2024 is also filled with a variety of cultural offerings in the form of Indonesian dances performed before the start of the MotoGP class race.
Angela also hopes that the implementation of Mandalika MotoGP 2024 will have a broad impact on the tourism industry and the creative economy, including Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), exceeding last year’s achievements. It is known that the 2023 Mandalika MotoGP event attracted more than 102 thousand spectators and had an impact on increasing the national GDP by IDR3.59 trillion to IDR4.30 trillion.
